Apple.com Gains an 18% Overall Traffic Growth

According to figures provided by Nielsen Online, last three months have brought the domain Apple.com, along with its subdomains, an 18% year over year Web traffic growth. The average figure of Apple.com visitors during these three months is about 46.8 million, whereas the same period last year showed only about 40 million.

Nielsen Online experts have also brought other interesting figures and facts. For example during Q4 2007 the overall time, users have spent on Apple.com was about 10 billion minutes, i.e. over 19,000 years!

Web traffic growth has also increased the on-line sales: this number in November 2006 was 207,000 and it has grown to 394,000 in November 2007. Top-visited channels of Apple Computers during Q4 period in 2007 were iTunes, with a 28% growth (26,436,000 in Q4 2006 and 33,742,000 in Q4 2007), Apple Store with a 15% growth (4,973,000 in Q4 2006 and 5,709,000 in Q4 2007) and the .Mac services with a 5% growth (3,927,000 in Q4 2006 and 4,048,000 in Q4 2007).

Nielsen Online presented also statistics for other brands of the industry. The fastest growing brands for eBay were:

  • Kijiji, with a 354% visitors' growth (371,000 in Q4 2006 and 1,687,000 in Q4 2007);
  • Skype, with a 33% traffic growth (2,793,000 in Q4 2006 and 3,719,000 in Q4 2007);
  • and PayPal, with a 3% growth (18,946,000 in Q4 2006 and 3,719,000 in Q4 2007).

The fastest growing services for Microsoft were the following:

  • Microsoft MSDN, with 194% visitors' growth (2,339,000 in Q4 2006 and 6,872,000 in Q4 2007);
  • MSN Entertainment, with 60% traffic growth (1,432,000 in Q4 2006 and 2,297,000 in Q4 2007);
  • Bungie Studios with 58% growth (492,000 in Q4 2006 and 780,000 in Q4 2007);
  • MSN Dating&Personals with 44% growth (2,202,000 in Q4 2006 and 3,174,000 in Q4 2007);
  • XBOX with 43% growth (1,578,000 in Q4 2006 and 2,262,000 in Q4 2007);
