Latest Invention: Dissolvable Wedding Dress Made From Biodegradable Material

A group of engineering students from the Sheffield Hallam University came up with the idea to create a wedding dress that can be turned into five new fashion accessories after the wedding.

With their dissolvable dress, the team wanted to show that a wedding dress can be used more than once.

In order to develop this fashion piece, the students used polyvinyl alcohol, a biodegradable substance that is mostly used in the manufacturing of laundry bags. It is worth mentioning that polyvinyl alcohol dissolves in water, having no impact on the environment.

The students will present their latest invention at an upcoming exhibition entitled "A Sustainable Marriage," which will take place at the Sheffield Hallam University this May, reports FashioningTechnology.

According to a survey carried out in 2008, the average cost of a wedding exceeds GBP20,000 ($29,000), which a wedding dress costs in average GBP997 ($1480).
