Light Tree - Functional and Eco-Friendly Alternative for Streetlamps

Designed by Omar I. Huerta Cardoso, the light tree represents a new generation of street lamps that make use of solar energy during the day to illuminate at night. The light tree features nanotube solar cells that, besides offering a great functionality, have an appealing design.
The designer decided to make a lamp that would mix hydroponic techniques with the latest solar cell technology. In addition, the "tree" has water inside that provides a more efficient conduction of light produced by a series of ultra-bright LEDs installed in the base.
The water is also used to feed the seeds that are placed at the top extremities of the tree. After a while the seeds will turn into beautiful plants, transforming the concept into an organic tree.
It would be interesting to mention that the light from the sun and ultraviolet light are absorbed by solar panels on the tree and then converted into energy used to light up the LEDs at night.
