Latest Invention: Smart Bra Provides Accurate Breasts Monitoring

This invention, called the Breast Tissue Screening Bra, is equipped with sensors used to estimate minute temperature alterations that take place when blood vessels grow to feed tumors.

It is worth mentioning that the alterations are so small that it can take several years before a woman can feel something's wrong, but by that time there can be serious complications.

The sensors incorporated in the bra feed back constant data, including the chronology of cell cycles. In addition, they have self-learning pattern recognition systems along with statistical analysis software that makes it possible to identify changes or potential tumors.

First Warning Systems, a Reno-based company, has been developing its smart bra ever since the company was founded in 2008. The goal was to design a bra that can play the role of a continuous examining device.

Up to now, the firm carried out 3 clinical tests in which over 650 people took part. The results were outstanding, with the bra being able to spot the creations of tumors as many as 6 years before a mammogram was able to do so.

The level of accuracy reached 92.1 percent, while today's mammograms show an accuracy level of 70 percent.

According to the company's website, its invention and its sensors are developed in a way to ensure a comfortable usage. The firm plans to start commercializing its product in Europe next year. It also plans to work with the FDA on approval in 2014.
