Sex Lowers The Risk Of Cancer And Flu

The journalist of The Daily Mail, Anna Maggie, has referred to researchers from the University of Nottingham by saying that sex is probably the only pleasure in life that is also useful for health. A healthy sexual life does not only keep one in a good mood, but also, according to scientists, lowers the risk of erectile dysfunction and even heart attack.

As it was reported, last month, British scientists have concluded that men who continue leading active sexual life after 50 have lower risk of prostate cancer development. However, it was also established that men between 20-30 years old, who have sex too often (more than 20 times per month), on the contrary, have a higher risk of prostate cancer.

Finnish researchers, during their study analyzed 1000 men aged between 55 and 75. They succeeded in establishing a direct interrelationship between the activeness of sexual life and erectile dysfunction. Those who have sex at least 3 times a week have a 4 times lower risk of this pathology development in comparison with the ones who have sex less than once a week.

In women of older age menopause is accompanied by a sudden lowering of estrogen's level – a hormone responsible for the pleasure received during the sexual act. However, American scientists have determined that women who have sex at least once a week have the level of estrogen two times higher during menopause.

The British cardiologist professor Peter Weisberg has declared that the theory, according to which the risk of heart attack is higher during the sexual act, is false. He affirms that this is a simple useful physical exercise for the body, such as a one-mile-walk would be for example.

According to the British doctor, Sarah Brewer, sex prevents in an indirect way the development of osteoporosis, because during and after the sexual act men have a high secretion of testosterone.

The author of the article also reminds that, during sex, such substances as serotonin (the hormone of "a good mood") and immunoglobulin A (which protects us from catching cold or flu) are secreted into the blood.

At the same time, doctors warn us that the percentage of sexually transmitted diseases has increased in the group of men older than 40 over the past years. More than that, 12 per cent of 50-years-old-men don't even use protection while making sex. The conclusion made by the author of the article is that "safety must come first before passion".
