Airbus to Make Airplane with Transparent Fuselage

Share

Recently Airbus announced plans to create a passenger airplane with a see-through fuselage.

The captain will only have to push one button to transmit an electrical pulse through a high-tech ceramic skin, thus making the plane's body completely transparent.

The new technology will allow passengers to observe different landscapes from an altitude of thousands of feet.

Although the plan seems far-fetched, it represents one of the goals that engineers from Airbus look forward to accomplishing.

It would be interesting to note that Airbus also has a number of other interesting ideas that the company hopes to turn into reality. One of the plans is to develop an aircraft skin that will be able to repair itself, reports Spigel.

"We told our engineers to give their imaginations free rein. What emerged were completely realistic visions of flight in the year 2050," said Axel Krein, the head of research and technology at Airbus.

He added: "Our people are grounded in reality, after all. And most of the necessary technology already exists."
