LiveJournal intends selling another series of permanent accounts. The site's officials have already undertaken such an action in 2005, when such accounts were available only during 24 hours. This year's event will take place between 21st and 28th June.
There was a chance that LiveJournal would not initiate the perm accounts action this year, but during the past two years people, who didn't manage getting a perm account last time, were asking LiveJournal to initiate another LiveJournal permanent account sale.
There are almost no differences between the two events, as just as in 2005, a permanent LiveJournal account will be available for only $150 and will be granted a series of additional features, such as 10GB of disk space, the maximum number of userpics, which is 138 (for now) and, probably the most important, no ads.
Those, who don't know what the difference between a simple paid account and a perm account, should be told that once a perm account is paid for, it requires no additional payments whatsoever and for quite a long period - forever. The LiveJournal perm account stays a 150 dollar account for life.
One more feature of this event is that if an account will be bought during the initial 36 hours of the sale, LiveJournal will transfer $25 to such organizations as RAINN, Witness, EFF and Creative Commons. The user has also a choice on which organization will get the money.
Users, wishing such a LiveJournal 'permaccount' were also given the possibility to have their names listed for a special subscription to receive an e-mail notice on when the sale starts. Normally, the notice will be posted in the of LiveJournal.
The LiveJournal-ists say that the action might not repeat until 2009. Who knows...
Millions of people will spend night and day in front of their computers waiting for the sale on the night between 20th and 21st June...
