Apple Provides Information on New iPhone OS 4

The tech giant Apple has finally reviewed its new operating system for the iPhone. The company also launched a beta version to iPhone Developer Program members.

It would be interesting to note that the new iPhone OS 4 beta features an updated Software Development Kit (SDK) that includes more than 1,500 new Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and 100+ new features that the owners of iPhone and iPod touch will be able to make use of this summer.

Finally Apple introduced the multitasking features to its smartphone. Among other useful features users may find:

  • - Better organization of folders and access apps (this includes iTunes directories).
  • - Better Mail with a unified inbox, quick inbox switching and threaded messages.
  • - Better Enterprise support with an enhanced protection of information, mobile device management and wireless app distribution.
  • - iAd mobile advertising platform, which shows full-screen video and interactive ad content without exiting the application.
  • - iBooks.

It is also worth mentioning that the iPhone OS 4 beta provides developers a preview of Game Center. The latter will make it possible for the owners of an iPhone and/or iPod Touch to play a video game, start a multiplayer game via matchmaking and follow their scores on a leader board.
