On Thursday, April 8, 2010, Apple will provide a sneak peak of its new operating system for the iPhone.

The announcement will be made at an invitation-only event that will take place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, California. Those who received the invitation were able to read the following: "Get a sneak peek into the future of iPhone OS." No additional information was given.

It is worth mentioning that the iPhone was released in 2007 and over 8.7 million pieces were sold worldwide in the last quarter of Apple's financial year, reports Physorg.

The information regarding the announcement of the new OS for iPhone was unveiled after Apple launched its much anticipated iPad tablet computer. The iPhone 3.0 operating system was launched in March 2009.
