Audi A8 to Feature Google Data Services

Recently Audi announced that its A8 car will soon include a brand new feature - its vehicle will benefit from Google information services.

The car will be able to obtain data from the net by making use of a built-in GPRS/EDGE modem in the MMI navigation plus module. Anyone driving the A8 will have the possibility to perform online searches through free text searches results like "hotel."

The search queries will be instantly displayed on the onboard map and which can be used as destinations that would help the driver estimate the appropriate route.

It will also be possible to plan the route by making use of the Audi web portal at home or workplace, and upload them while in the car. By the middle of 2010, Audi looks forward to launch UMTS modem that will have a number of advantages: it will provide faster transfer of information and incorporate Google Earth within the 8-inch LCD screen.

At the beginning of January, the company will present the new features at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
