Boy Aged 9 Develops iPhone Applications


A boy genius from Singapore develops his own applications for the popular iPhone. The latest application of the nine-year old Lim Ding Wen is dubbed "Doodle Kids". The program has already been downloaded more than 4,000 times from Apple's iTunes over a period of just one week.

The program of the child prodigy allows iPhone users to draw using their fingers on the gadget's touchscreen and clean the screen by simply shaking the device.

Lim Ding Wen says that he developed the application for his younger sisters aged 3 and 5 who are fond of drawing. It is worth mentioning that the boy, who is passionate about reading books on programming, is fluent in six programming languages. He began using the computer at the age of just 2. Now he is 9 and he already managed to develop around 20 programming projects, reports New Paper.

The child's father, Lim Thye Chean, works as a chief technology officer at a local technology company. He also develops iPhone applications. "Every evening we check the statistics emailed to us (by iTunes) to see who has more downloads," he says.

Currently the younger Lim is working on a new application for iPhone, and namely he develops a sci-fi game entitled "Invader Wars".
