Share

The Columbus Sport 130' Hybrid is a new type of super yacht that runs on electricity and diesel. In addition, the eco-friendly yacht features a bilge water separator that avoids oily deposits to spread out to sea.

According to the developers this is the world's first eco-friendly yacht. At the moment the yacht is being built by Palumbo, an Italian shipbuilding company. It is expected to be launched by 2013 and upon its release more detailed information is going to be unveiled.

So far it is know that the yacht is 120ft long and its exterior is made of aluminum. Besides, it has a light skeletal structure that allows the yacht to consume less energy.

If it runs only on electricity, Columbus Sport is able to reach a top speed of 7.5 knots, but in case it needs to go faster, the diesel engine is engaged. It is worth mentioning that because it uses electrical engine, less noise pollution is emitted.

Inside, the yacht has huge windows in the main room, also called "saloon", a large flybridge and luxurious interiors enriched with Breccia Sarda and Emperador Dark marble.

There's a total of 3 cabins and the room of the owner. Thus Columbus Sport is able to accommodate up to 8 people.

The 9th longest yacht in the world will cost $384,000 per week to run.
