Female Robot Mannequin Tested at a Japanese Store

The Sugiura Machine Design Office created a female robot to play the role of a store mannequin at the Parco Department store in Ikebukuro.

The robot has arms and boasts four degrees of freedom, being able to imitate human body language.

Reliability was one of the major points that the Japanese company had to consider when building its robot. This is because the machine is intended for long-term use. Now it operates around 10 hours a day.

The robotic mannequin changes its routine moves every hour. Its limbs were created with the help of a 3D printer. The store will have the robot on display for about a month.
