Most Impressive Green Cars Presented at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show

This year at the famous Geneva Motor Show visitors had the possibility to enjoy a wide range of "green" vehicles. The tendency of developing an eco-friendly car encompassed virtually all car manufacturers, which is why the Geneva Motor Show was a perfect place for everyone who enjoys hybrid cars, compact and electric cars. Below you can see some of the most impressive green vehicles from the motor show.

Ford Iosis Max

This is Ford's latest product and its heart is the 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine which saves up to 20 percent fuel than standard engines of the same power. Its design is more likely to be used in the future Focus models.

Infiniti Essence

This hybrid concept car features a slim motor, which, according to the manufacturer, has twice the torque of a standard motor. Infinity Essence is a vehicle that achieves 29.4 miles/gallon.

Dacia Duster

Besides the big names in car industry, the show gathered a number of less know but (it seems like) rather daring companies such as Dacia - a subsidiary of the French car manufacturer Renault. This year Dacia unveiled the Duster. The diesel engine of this crossover vehicle achieves 44.4 miles per gallon. Besides having an eye catchy design, the vehicle has one interesting and useful feature - the passenger seat can slide beneath the driver's seat, providing enough space for a mountain bike.

Chevrolet Spark

This compact vehicle really catches your eye at a first glance due to its quite modern design. Chevy Spark is indeed a money-saving car, spending just 5 liters per 100km (47 miles/gallon). The manufacturer says that the vehicle will be out by the next year.

NLV Quant

This fully-electric sports vehicle was created by Koenigsegg, a company that is most often associated with inexpensive or energy-saving vehicles. The Quant represents a well-designed speedster that is entirely coated with thin-film solar cells. Koenigsegg believes its new vehicle will be able to compete with the popular Tesla Roadster.

Opel Vauxhall Ampera

This vehicle will be available in 2012. It is a really cost-effective car, able to achieve 176 miles/gallon. Its carbon dioxide emissions are equal to only 40g/km. The Ampera represents a full-sized vehicle, having a 300-mile range. The car can drive up to 40 miles only on electric power and if you want to spend more time on the road there's a gasoline-powered range extender.

EDAG Light Car

This car was developed by a little known German company, which makes a lot of engineering work for the German giant Volkswagen. The company presented its vehicle that can boast with a new type of lightweight material it is made of. EDAG welcomes ideas from tech companies to make the car greener.
