Ideum Pro and Platform - 4th Generation Multitouch Tables

Ideum, a company with headquarters in New Mexico, is now launching its 4th generation multitouch table. There are currently two models - the Pro and the Platform.

Both devices boast a 55-inch LED LCD display with a 30,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Also both are powered by Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit Professional and are able to support up to 40 simultaneous touch points.

It would be interesting to note that both tables are 50 millimeters thick, which is quite impressive, considering that the product's counterpart from Samsung, SUR40 Experience, is 103 mm thick.

The tables support Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Another feature is the RFID, which is new to 4th-gen devices. It provides administrators the ability to change the display applications, and lock the unit in a way so only the intended software can be accessed.

A higher security level is provided by the aircraft-grade aluminum casing developed with lockable access ports. It would be worth noting that the display itself is rather sturdy as well.

The New Mexico based firm makes use of a micro-etched, low-friction surface created from a sheet of toughened, ultra-clear, low-iron tempered glass. In addition, Ideum offers clients the possibility to choose Sevasa HapticGlass which provides tactile feedback, eliminates fingerprints and makes the screen more scratch-resistant.

But the two models obviously have some differences. The Pro model features a 3.4 GHz Quad Core i7 2600, 8GB DDR-1066 RAM, dual 500 GB SATA II HDD, and is powered by an NVIDIA Quadro 600 1GB graphics card. It also boasts an expandable HP workstation and an incorporated 75 watt amplifier with speakers from Yamaha.

The Platform table features Intel 2.2 GHz Hyper-Threaded Dual Core i7 chip, 8GB DDR3-1066 RAM, dual 256 GB solid-state SSD drives and an NVIDIA GX460 graphics card.
