Latest Invention: Andyvision - Robot that Manages Store Stock

Share

A team of engineers at Carnegie Mellon University recently presented their latest invention - a robot that was designed and developed to play the role of a stock manager.

Dubbed the Andyvision, the machine travels through the store and searches for out of stock items. Thus the shelves of the store are always full.

It would be interesting to note that the robot makes use of a database combination of 2D and 3D imagery, as well as a machine learning algorithm. Thus it is able to process and report the misplaced stock on the store shelves.

At the moment the machine is being tested in Carnegie Mellon's campus store. However, in the near future the school hopes to launch the Andyvision onto the market so we could soon see it in outlets. Check out the video below to see the invention in action.
