Latest Invention: Cooking Simulator that Uses Digitally Projected Food

A team of researchers at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, the device represents a cooking simulator. With the help of a frying pan and spatula, the user can cook digitally projected food. The simulator allows the use to actually feel the weight and temperature of used ingredients.

The goal of the device is to teach people to feel and observe how various changes influence each ingredient.

Here's an example: a meat that has been cooked for 10 minutes will look and feel differently from meat that has been cooked 5 minutes and the simulator will attempt to replicate those changes.

According to the developers, the system also estimates how moisture evaporates with the increase of temperature. It illustrates how the color of protein changes from red to brown, for instance, by synthesizing textures.
