Latest Invention: Dragon Runner 10 - Unmanned Surveillance Robot from QinetiQ

QinetiQ North America, company that supplies the government and industry with technology and responsive solutions, has recently presented its latest invention - Micro Unmanned Ground Vehicle (MUGV) called Dragon Runner 10 (DR10).
The vehicle is based on the company's Dragon Runner platform, and was built with the goal of carrying out military and first responder missions. With a length of 15 inches (38 cm), width of 13.5 inches (34 cm) and height 5.8 inches (15 cm), the vehicle weights only 10 pounds (4.5 kg).
Being compact and lightweight, the DR10 can be used in buildings and hostile environments for performing reconnaissance and surveillance duties. It can also carry payloads of up to 5 pounds (2.3 kg) and can be equipped with numerous sensors, radios, cameras and even a robotic arm.
It can collect valuable data in any light conditions due to the mounted day and night sensors. The machine is controlled with the help of a wearable controller that works at a range of up to 2,130 feet (650 m). Besides, depending on the landscape, the robot can be fitted with tracks or wheels.
Its travel speed is about 4 mph (6.4 km/h) on hills of up to 45 degrees and the onboard battery offers up to 2 hours of power. The power can be supplemented by an external battery pack to offer additional 6 hours.
