Latest Invention: Electric Vehicle Covered with Pillows

This vehicle might not really be the most advanced in terms of design, but it's an electric vehicle everyone would like to run into in case they're involved in an accident.

The electric car is the brainchild of students at Hiroshima University. Its most interesting part is of course the replacement of interior airbags with air-filled cushions installed on the outer side.

Dubbed the iSAVE-SC1, the three-wheeled vehicle was built with the goal of softening the blow for both driver and pedestrian alike.

There's no doubt that cushions don't help aerodynamics, and yet the car is able to reach a top speed of 50 km/h (31 mph), according to the developers.

In addition, the iSAVE with an overnight charge is able to register a range of 30 km (18.6 miles). Still, it should be mentioned that long range was not a priority for the Japanese students.

The price of such a vehicle is 790,000 yen (about US$9,212) and for this amount of money you get interchangeable plastic roof and bumpers equipped with cushions. It would be interesting to note that cushions for the car are available in different colors.
