Latest Invention: RC Robotic Fish to Help Real Fish Sail Away from Danger

If you like this invention you can vote for it here. The latest invention of Maurizio Porfiri could help some species of fish escape dangerous, polluted areas in the sea. He came up with remote-controlled robots the movements of which resemble that of real fish.

According to Mr. Porfiri, who works as assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, his latest invention could help fish get to safer waters. His robotic fish can act as group leaders, making fish follow them.

The inventor hopes that his robotic fish would help real fish get away from hazardous power plant turbines. In the future he looks forward to create machines that would lead birds to safe wintering places and maybe even help humans get to safe areas when there's potential danger.

Still, Porfiri has a lot of work to do since his robots cannot dive or surface; plus they need batteries. It is possible that the inventor will equip his machines will technologies that would harness energy from vibrations in the water. More information is available here.
