Latest Invention: Robot that Keeps Kids Safe from Cyber Bulling

This interactive social robot, called Petimos, was developed by a student from the National University of Singapore. The latest invention of Adrian David Cheok came to life after he thought of designing a machine that will be able to guard children against various cyber crimes.

It is worth mentioning that according to statistical data about 18 percent of US children, aged between 8 and 10, are registered on various social networking websites, which makes them vulnerable targets for cyber bullies.

Petimos is a robot that does not let any user come in contact with the child. When cyber bullies attempt to contact a minor, they first meet Petimos, which informs parents that their child has a new friend request on a website.

Currently the robot is connected to an online social network known as Petimo-World, but the author of the machine hopes that soon his latest invention will work with other networking websites. The robot is represented by an avatar. Children can use the avatar to send different gifts and messages by pressing on it, informs NewScientist.
