Latest Invention: Super-thin Flexible OLED Screen Developed by Sony

The presentation took place at the CREATEC JAPAN 2009 IT and electronics trade show that currently takes place in Makuhari Messe (Chiba) in Japan.

The tech giant's latest invention is being demonstrated in gadgets like Vaio notebook, flexible e-book and walkman bracelet, all of them featuring an OLED that is just 0.2 mm thick.

The viewing angle of the transparent and flexible OLED screen is nearly unlimited. It is worth mentioning that the technology has some advantages over LEDs such as: higher efficiency, faster reaction times and it does not need backlighting, reports Cnet News. In addition, the latest invention is more energy-efficient.

The CEATEC (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies ) JAPAN exhibition opened today and will run until October 10. All inventions presented there are concepts and there is no information whether they will hit the market or remain in the prototype stage. This year's theme is "Digital Convergence ? Defining the Shape of Our Future".
