Latest Invention: Swap-O-Matic - Vending Machine that Allows Trading Various Things

Lina Fenequito is a designer from Brooklyn that has come up with a new kind of vending machine called Swap-O-Matic.

The machine allows users to get rid of things they no longer need and obtain new things for free. It features a touchscreen where the user has three options: swap, donate and receive.

When the user donates one thing they earn 1 credit. If you want to get something then you should spend a credit. It is also possible to swap things. All that the user has to do in order to carry out the upper mentioned operations is to enter their email address.

It is worth mentioning that the vending machine features several compartments where different things can be placed. Every user initially has 3 credits. Then they can earn a credit for each good placed in a compartment.

In case you swap an item for another one no credits are spent. According to Fenequito, the initial goal of the machine is to inspire people to rethink their consumption habits and consider trading or reusing goods instead of throwing them away.

"On a much larger scale, the ultimate goal is for the Swap-O-Matic to inspire a movement, affecting change for large numbers of people and communities," says the developer.

It would be interesting to note that the Swap-O-Matic can be today found at different locations around New York City. Lina has the goal of placing several similar vending machines around the United States and in the long-term around the world.
