Latest Invention: Telepod - System that Delivers Full 3D Projections of a Person

The main problem of 3D displays is that they actually show a 2D image with a little depth added to it, so you can't really go around the image and see it entirely. To solve the issue the telepod was created.

A cylindrical display system, called telepod, includes a life-sized device that can be used to project an entire person in 3D anywhere you want and some additional sensors. Thus the user can walk around the projection of the telepod.

The invention was developed by a team of researchers at the Human Media Lab at Queen's University in Canada.

Besides the six Kinect sensors incorporated in the device, the team used another 4 sensors around the room where the telepod is located.
