Latest Invention: XDModo Solar Charger that Sticks to Window to Charge Gadgets

The group of international designers from XD Design has developed a 0.68-inch thick solar charger that sticks to a window to harness energy with photovoltaic panels facing the glass.

As soon as you attach the XDModo to the window you can connect any portable device to it via a cable located at the back and charge its battery.

The solar charger is very compact, measuring 11 x 11 x 1.75 cm (4.3 x 4.3 x 0.68 inches) and weighing 0.135 kg (4.76 ounces). It has an ABS plastic case equipped with PV panels covered by silicone pads. The latter allow the device to stick to the glass of a window. The base of the charger features a full-size USB port and a mini-USB port that allow the user to connect different portable gadgets that need a battery charge.

Inside there's a 1300 mAh Li-ion battery, which, according to the company requires around 13 hours of direct sunlight to fill up.

The device's output via the mini-USB cable is 5V/500mA. In addition, it boasts a built-in over-charge and over-heating protection. At its bottom edge one may discover a LED charge indicator that lights red during the charging process and green and the connected gadget has its battery filled up.

The price for the Window solar charger is EUR 49.95 ($66).
