Researchers to Test Warning Sounds Using an Electric Car and Sound System

A new electric van was developed by researchers from the Warwick University's WMG.
With their EV scientists hope to increase the safety level of pedestrians and cyclists by studying the car sounds.
The electric van is called ELVIN (Electric Vehicle with Interactive Noise) and it is equipped with a special sound system that can emit different noises.
Researchers will use their van at campuses where ELVIN's sound system will be tested on students.
By examining the reactions of people at the campus, researchers will be able to figure out the sounds that could be effectively used to warn pedestrians and cyclists about the approaching vehicle and at the same time be less annoying.
