Stompy - Daring Design of a Walking Vehicle with Six Legs

A team of researchers over at Artisan's Asylum in Somerville, Massachusetts, has recently announced their plans to build a hexapod that has two seats in it and which towers above an average vehicle.

So far the project is just at its starting phase, but researchers already gave it a name - Stompy. They also uploaded a presentation of Stompy and some of its concrete features and abilities.

The robot is actually pretty large, with the distance between the centers of two of its middle legs measuring 17 feet, which is about the width of 1.5 of a traffic lane. Its bottom stands 6 feet above the ground.
