Word Lens for Android - Instant Translation of Written Words

In 2010 iPhone users were able to try a new app called Word Lens that allows translating signs written in foreign language. Since then Android users have been hoping for a similar app.

Developers at Quest Visual finally managed to fulfill the needs of Android users and launched the app that can now be downloaded through Google play.

Just like the application for the iOS, Word Lens translates words that the smartphone camera captures on signs and other surfaces. Due to the fact that the application uses optical character recognition technology mixed with a pre-installed dictionary, it can work without Internet connection.

It is worth mentioning that the first app of such kind was able to translate only from English to Spanish and vice versa. Quest Visual's app also offers Italian/English and French/English translations. The improved version of the app can be used by both iOS and Android users.
