Latest inventions 2008

Speaking about the latest inventions 2008, a unique robot has been developed by a team of scientists at the University of Reading. The robot is controlled by a biological brain built on cultured neurons. The amazing invention will allow the researchers to examine how memories manifest themselves in the human brain, and the way a brain keeps specific data pieces. The robot may allow the scientists to better understand a range of diseases and disorders affecting the brain, including Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, stoke and brain injury.

The researchers' work is presently concentrated at getting the robot to learn - they apply different signals as the robot moves into predefined positions. After the robot 'succeeds' in the process of learning, the scientists will be able to see how memories manifest themselves in the brain when the robot comes back to familiar territory.
