Latest inventions

If you want to know everything about the latest inventions, it will be interesting for you to find out that MIT biological engineers have discovered a method of mass-production of smell receptors in the laboratory, so "artificial noses" may soon be invented and used by scientists in different settings. Now, the scientists are much closer to finding out how the sense of smell allows us to recognize an infinite range of odors.

Till the present day, the scientists have experienced difficulties in understanding the molecular basis of smell because of the difficulty in studying olfactory receptors, the odor-detecting proteins.

Artificial noses will no doubt become a really useful invention not only for scientists but for all the humankind. Soon they may replace drug- and explosive-sniffing dogs, and may become widely used in medicine.
