Artist Makes Records Made of Glacier Ice

Artist Katie Paterson managed to create three records that are made out of glacier ice and that can be played until they melt.

She created her records from melted glacier water that was frozen in the shape of playable records.

The installation called Langjökull, Snæfellsjökull, Solheimajökull, steadily scars the flat surfaces of the records and dissolves them using a needle and warm air. The outcome is the sound that resembles rushing water mixed with a crystalline ring. Hear this sound here.

It is worth mentioning that The Independent named Paterson one of the most creative young talents of Britain.
