Blind Man Fights For His Children

A blind man from South Africa who became a widow after his wife's death appealed to the highest court to disprove a decision that he is unable to take care of his children.

After the man's wife died from cancer, their 8-month-old baby and two stepchildren were taken by social workers to the relatives. The man was told that his blindness was one of the factors that influenced their decision to remove his children from home. His attorney said that another reason was man's lack of financial resources.

The man's name is not uncovered to protect the children, the Pretoria News reported. South Africa's National Council for the Blind is supporting the man's initiative to fight for leaving his kids with him. Jill Wagner, the executive director of this organization said that blindness should not be a reason for taking children from their parents.

I think he SHOULD be able to have his children. Disabilities shouldn't stop a parent from raising their children! As long as he gives them the love and attention they need and deserve, a blind father is just as good as one who can see!
