Canstruction Competition - Amazing Sculptures From Canned Food

In October New Jersey will be the place where architects, engineers, designers, and students will gather to take part in a competition called Canstruction to create gigantic structures from cans with food.

The 11th annual New Jersey Canstruction competition will take place at the Prudential Center Arena in Newark and its goal is to promote the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, the biggest distributor of food to non-profit organizations that help poverty-stricken people. This year all constructions will have a hockey theme.

Thousands of cans of food will be used to make gigantic structures, which will be built during the "Build Day" on November 13th. Those willing to view the canstructions will be welcome to the Prudential Center open space. Artists will have a chance to show their talent and help people in need. After the competition, all constructions will be dismantled and charities will receive the canned food. It is worth mentioning that in 2008 over 40,000 pounds of canned food were donated along with $6,426 in cash. You can find more interesting things made by different artists here at by checking the links at the bottom of the article.
