Most Bizarre Names in Britain and the US

Share

British researchers decided to investigate the weirdest and most unfortunate names of people living in the UK. The found Jo King and Justin Case, then there were Terry Bull, Mary Christmas, Anna Sasin and Doug Hole, whose parents probably gave a little thought when naming their babies or they just had a "good" sense of humor.

"Parents need to think carefully when choosing names for their children. Their name will be with them for life and what may be quirky and fun for a toddler might be regretted terribly when that person becomes older or even a grandparent perhaps," mentioned a spokesman for TheBabyWebsite.com , which represents an online parenting advice website that carried out the research.

The 76-year-old Stan Still, a retired RAF airman from Cirencester, Gloucs said that living with a name like his is a real test of patience. He mentioned that when he was in the RAF his commanding officer often made jokes like shouting "Stan Still, get a move on" and then laughing.

In contrast to Stan Still, the 51-year-old Rose Bush, from Coventry, West Mids, mentioned that her name has not very often been a cause of mockery. The name did not cause her any trouble and she liked it a lot. "I always get comments about it but they are always very positive," she said.

Researches carried out their survey over a two-month period and also managed to find people with the names like Paige Turner, Chris Cross, Barry Cade, Sonny Day, Teresa Green, and Ray Gunn. Some people like Doug Hole of Penrith, had little desire of talking about their name.

Researchers were also able to find people with unusual names outside Britain. They found Americans with such names as Anna Prentice, Annette Curtain, Bill Board and Carrie Oakey.

In the medical field there were people whose names were somewhat associated with their profession: Dr Leslie Doctor, Dr Thoulton Surgeon, Dr Payne (who works as a plastic surgeon in Ohio) and Les Plack (a dentist working in San Francisco).
