NASA's Images Show The World is Looking Strange

Recently NASA's Earth Observatory took pictures of the famous man-made archipelago called The World and according to these images the artificial islands look somewhat tatty around the edges.

Some of those 300 islands have drifted apart, while others, representing Australia and south-east Asia, came together. The latest picture unveiled by NASA was taken on January 13 by one of the representatives of the International Space Station Expedition 22 crew, who used a Nikon camera.

Although the works on the Palm Jumeirah complex (located next to The World) has carried on, according to NASA's images "Little to no infrastructure development of The World is apparent in this astronaut photograph."

It is worth mentioning that the archipelago, which can be observed in Dubai, was built in the period between 2003 and 2008 and required 320m3 of sand and 37 tons of rock.
