Philips lcd hdtv

A feature that is worth mentioning in this series of LCDs is Ambilight (Ambient Light Technology) - a unique characteristic that creates a light in the surrounding medium similar to the one on the screen, a property also used as a design element. It is based upon the adjustment of picture brightness and colors, improving at the same time its contrast and assuring a relaxed state when watching TV.

The majority of LCDs in this series are based upon the Pixel Plus 2 technology, a technology that provides rich, sharp colors, natural contrast and motion on the screen and a deep impressive detail of the pictures. Invisible Flat Surface Sound Speakers represent invisible decorative part of LCDs, at the same time being responsible for creating a pure sound. These speakers are made of a monolithic membrane and they are situated on the outer wall of the LCD monitor, thus being almost invisible.

In the following, a few models from this series will be analyzed and compared. One of them is Philips LCD HDTV PFL 5332D - it's based upon Pixel Plus 3 technology, thus its image being significantly improved in comparison with the rest of the models. Its Contrast Ratio is of 4000:1 and it has a brightness of 500 cd/sq.m, and a 8 ms response time. Its sound system is represented by Dolby Digital Sound System (AC-3) and Virtual Dolby Surround feature - the two of them establishing a sound compared to none. Another feature of this model is Digital Media Reader (for viewing photos and their editing).

One other great model of Philips series, especially designed for the ease of customers' use, is PFL 3403D, with a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 26000:1 and a brightness of 500 cd/sq.m. It also has 20-Watt speakers and 3 HDMI connections, and it's based upon a brilliant Pixel Plus HD engine.

PFL 5603D, in its turn, also with a Pixel Plus 3HD engine and an incredible invisible sound, a beautiful design, 3 HDMI connectivities and an Audio input, a Dynamic Contrast ratio of 29000:1 and a brightness of 500 cd/sq.m, makes a great combination that allows a high definition performance of the image on the screen.

One of the latest models in this series is PF 9631D, also with a Pixel Plus 3HD technology, that provides an even greater and sharper detail of the image; with an Ambilight Full Surround feature, that assures a surrounding light effect based upon the main colors on the screen; a Digital Natural Motion feature for a cinema movie effect of 24 frames per second; a response time of 6 ms and with a built-in Ethernet, USB and 7-in-1 card reader for connectivity to a PC monitor and media sharing. But its price is a bit higher than the prices of the rest of the models, of course.

One of the features worth noting in Philips series of LCDs was Settings Assistant - a clever thing indeed for the customers who have no idea of high technology settings - it guides you in everything, from the beginning to the very end, thus saving you from problems related to complicated adjustments of TVs - your only job is to select your preferences from the proposed options on the screen.

In the end, if to observe closer all these models, we can see that every model from Philips series has its own unique personality, meant to fulfill different tastes and needs.
