Fashion Company Launches New Line of Printed Out Bikinis

Share

A design company called Continuum Fashion has developed a new bikini that has been printed out using a 3D printer. According to the company the new bikini is very comfortable and durable.

Dubbed the N12 (the name comes from the Nylon 12 it is made from) the garment is composed of hundreds of tiny disks. All pieces snap together during the "printing" process and the bikini is only 0.7mm thick.

The firm's cofounder Jenna Fizel says that printing out a bikini was a good start for 3D printing fashion. This is because the garment requires little material.

"The printer also has a set bounding box, and our original bikini design exactly fit within the print area in a single piece," added Fizel.

Those who are willing to buy this 3D printed bikini may do so through Continuum itself or contact the company's partner Shapeways. After placing the order, the customer's bikini is printed out and shipped.

In the near future 3D printers could be in every home and printing out the N12 bikini would be very easy, with the user only having to carry out an online payment for the printing rights. The only drawback currently is the price. To order the N12 visit this site.
