Latest Invention: Paper Solar Cells from MIT Researchers

If you like this invention you can vote for it here. The latest invention of MIT researchers is a thin film solar cell printed on paper. To be able to print solar cells on paper, scientists made use of a method that resembles a conventional inkjet printer.

This could turn out to be a step towards the revolution in the production and installation of solar panels. It is worth mentioning that the researchers used carbon-based dyes on their semiconductor-coated paper, thus the solar cells provide an efficiency of 1.5 to 2 percent. Though the invention is not quite efficient, its greatest advantage is its convenience.

Scientists hope that in the near future it would be possible to use their method to print solar cells on metal foil and plastics.

Currently, according to MIT researchers, the technology they came up with is in the research stage. It would take several years of research and development before their latest invention is commercialized. More information on the invention you can find here.
