Researchers at Erasmus MC, the university hospital of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, which is affiliated with the Erasmus University, came up with a technique that makes it possible to tell a person's age by a drop of blood.

Their test can tell the age to within 9 years and can be work with dried bloodstains. With its help, detectives will be able to reopen old cases. The new method can help identify offenders or victims of disasters.

It is worth mentioning that until now researchers had at their disposal teeth and bones based on which their attempted to determine the age of the person. But in most cases only blood is found at crime scenes. This is where the new technique becomes very helpful.
