NYU Professor to Implant Camera Into the Back of the Head

Share

An Iraqi assistant professor of photography and imaging from the University of New York decided to implant a thumbnail-sized camera into the back of his head.

The surgical procedure will involve using a piercing-like attachment of the device.

After being installed at the back of Waffa Bilal's head, the camera will take pictures every minute. Simultaneously the camera will sent the shot images to monitors at the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar.

The experiment is meant to create a new form of art called The 3rd I. Using the implanted camera Bilal will be able to capture almost every moment of his life, reports WSJ.

People that are familiar with the project say that the professor, who is currently working at the department of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, hopes to undergo the surgery in coming weeks.
